My life time ride

25th July 2007

This is about my journey to moutains and this is the lifetime ride. As I never experienced riding through such a steep road. I went  2500 meters above the sea level. It was the long tortuous drive that brought us to this little mountain pass. This is about my journey to Dharamshala. This is the place where Dalai Lama stayed many years ago. I went to McLeodganj from Dharmshala. The road from Dharmshala to McLeodganj is steep and along the hills with deep gorges on one side. After the McLeodganj I ride to the Dalhousie. Dalhousie is much better then Dharmshala and McLeodganj. These Places are crowded and dirty. Dalhousie still retains a old world charm. Then I Packed my bags and ready to come back on my royal enfield motorcycle. I suggest every one to go there for a drive for the experience.

Out for a trickle

17th July 2007

Five Royal Enfield motorcycles out for a quite Saturday journey all the way through the forest on the backside roads of a friendless isle? Looks like they have got the opportunity to give their kitted steeds a proper work out and this scene could have been that of a ride –out anywhere in the world. But wait are not these proper racing bikes with no lights and registration for the road . What in fire are they doing on these civic roads?

Come July a though and this sector would be gunning these same mega-machines through these very open roads on the isle of man as it plays crowd to the 100th year of the traveler award race. It takes a special class of man to race on a natural route with its own hazards and dangers and while the boundary between staying straight and being deserted in to the stun face or landscape is pretty thin at this time, it does make for the daring and the classic. Take a  Robin for approaching the limits of individual patience, talent and daring in the name of sports.

A tour on Royal Enfield Motorcycle

8th July 2007

My wife and I wanted to enjoy our weekend to do something thrilling and exciting. We decided to go on a trip on our newly purchased royal Enfield machismo 500 cc. This motorcycle was having 499cc lean burn engine and amazed pick up. Its chrome plated petrol tank giving classic look to bike.. We were having full two days with us. Arvind, Jyotika, Shubham and somya were also accompanying us on their motorcycles. My another friend and Gautam and his wife kiran had some work so he decided to catch us up on the way. We started at 8 am in the morning.

This was my first journey on motorcycle. As I was never done any solo ride so I decided to come back on the third day and others had plans to come back on second day. Our first stop from Delhi was Alwar for breakfast. There we met another Royal Enfield motorcycle rider Rohan and Nitika they were riding to Jaiselmer. There we also exchanged our experiences of riding.

After having break fast we started our onward journey and planned to spent night in Jaipur.Quickly we rode and we were on the highway soon with 70-80kmph speeds.

On a highway 70-80kmph speed, you would experience like you are not moving at all! I slowed down a bit and maintained 90-100 kmph speeds on my motorcycle. In between Jaipur and Alwar we divided in two groups – My friend Gautom and his wife kiran and Somaya and the rest of us carried on further. After a while Arvind was left behind and it was I and Jotika doing 100+kmph speed again. We did that till we reached Silisate. Silisate is a place near Alwar having beautiful lake.We spent half an hour in silisate and strted our journey towards Siriska- a famous wild life bird century. We reaches siriska around 11 o clock. After spending 2 hours in siriska we moved toward Jaipur.

After few minutes we reached on Delhi Jaipur Highway. We speed up our motorcycles on the high way. Our clocks were alarming us for lunch .I and my other co riders started looking some dhaba or restrarent. Finally we got one dhaba on the high way. We had light lunch their and again started our Journey. We reached Jaipur around 3 o clock.

The Road Less Travelled

3rd July 2007

This is the story of my journey to the place name Sairopa. Very few people have known this place. During my stay in Chandigarh for one year I was so bored and no friend for socialize One day I was sitting alone and just surfing the channals on T.V, I saw a travel channal and got a idea to go somewhere for the adventures journey. Once one of my friends went to this place and told me about this so I decided to go there and started from Chandigarh on my Royal Enfield motorcycle and soon I was hitting the road all the way from Chandigarh to Sairopa via Naggar. To get to Sairopa to Naggar one have to take Manali highway this is highway no. 21. To get to Naggar I have to first reach Mandi. Mandi is called the gatway of Kullu valley. From there I rode along the Beas River till Naggar. It was so thrilling and tremendous experience to ride along the river in the hills.

Riding through Kullu I reached the Naggar, and decided to stay there for night because it was already evening and riding through Kullu one will ride across the Pandoh dam and one has to be extra careful here because there is sheer rock face on one side and river on the other.

The Naggar was the ancient capital of Kullu and it is the home to the Himalayan Museum of Folk and Tribal Art. Naggar is a beautiful little village and a heaven for bikers. Even one can stay one day at Naggar and pamper in fantastic half-day rides within and outside Naggar, as the spot is ideal, owing to the lack of tourist. Riding through the immaculate and untouched fauna of that place is an unconditional adventure. When anyone go there make sure to visit Jaloara. Though the road there are badly-maintained but when I was at the top of mountain I felt that the trip is worth all the troubles. After the Naggar I went towards Sairopa . From Siapora I enjoyed a good trek in the Great Himalayan National Park. Munched the homegrown apples, strawberries and plums as I walk along the park. This park is also the home to over 170 species of birds and animals. After this thrilling journey one thrill was left that is Jolori pass. This pass is 10,282 feet above the sea level. And one has to cross this pass to reach Chandigarh. From Jalori onwards the road was better and I cruise all the way back to Chandigarh.
