Royal Enfield Maintenance Tips

In this article we will discuss about specification other then engine of Royal Enfield Classic 500 like frame, electrical and suspension .Frame of this motorcycle is tubular type .The front suspension of Royal Enfield Classic 500 is telescopic, hydraulic damping type and for comfortable riding stroke is kept 130 mm. Shockers are filled up with 195 cc 1F oil in each leg.  Rear suspension of this motorcycle is swing arm type with gas filled shock absorber. Front brake of Royal Enfield Classic 500 is hydraulic hand operated 280 mm diameter ventilated disc in which 60 ml brake oil of dot 3 or dot 4 is used and rear brake is mechanical foot operated with 153 mm internal expanding type.  Front tyre of 18” with tyre pressure of 20 PSI and rear tyre of 19” with 30 PSI is used in Bullet classic in solo riding.  With pillion rider recommended tyre pressure is 22 PSI and 32 PSI in front tyre and rear tyre respectively.  We can fill fuel tank of the motorcycle with 13.5 liters with reserved capacity of 2.5 liters.  Current is generated in this motorcycle with the help of alternator and 12 volt 14 Amp hour maintenance free battery delivered 12 volt to system. Being a twin spark engine two spark plugs are used in Royal Enfield Classic 500.Primary plug is  mico make with  WR7DDC4 specifications and secondary spark plug is Super Bosh UR5DC. A gap of 0.7 mm to .8mm is maintained for better performance of the motorcycle.12 volt Headlamp with 60/55 watts bulb provide sufficient light in the night.  Other lights specifications are

Tail / Brake Lamp-          12V 5 / 21W

Speedometer lamp-          12V, 3.4W

Hi beam indicator-           12V, 2W

Neutral lamp Tell tale-     12V, 2W

Turn Signal Tell Tale-      12V, 2W

Turn signal-                      12V, 10W

For better sounding a 12 volt DC horn and for better start ability 12 volt & 0.9 KW starter motor is used in Royal Enfield Classic 500.Kerb weight of motorcycle is 187 kg and maximum pay load is 178 kg.  Length of the motorcycle is 2160 mm, width 800mm, height 1050 mm, wheel base 1370 mm, ground clearance 135 mm and saddle height is 800 mm.
